MeshedPi - the project

The MeshedPi uses the Raspberry Pi B+ or 2. With an extension board for te GPIO headers it provides sockets for up to four Long Range transceiver modules. It has also a dedicated Low Noise LDO for the modules, to decouple the power supply from the Raspberry Pi.

The extension module can operate up to four Long Range, ISM Band (Sub-GHz) commercially available modules. Depending on your region, you can use the license free ISM band for very Long Range, low-bitrate sensor networks.
The project will enable other developers and even us, to create software applications running on a Linux (Rasbian) system.
So, you can create easily IoT Long Range Swarm Networks.
Via the USB ports on the Raspberry Pi you can bridge WiFi, BLE over miles, using Long Range links. Or adding a GPS USB device: it can be used for localization of other nodes in the wireless network, e.g. via triangulation done by three or even more MeshedPi's.
The four Long Range transceivers gives you flexibility to create:

  • Diversity receivers
  • Repeaters
  • Hubs and Gateways
  • Localization of other wireless Long Range sensor nodes in a meshed network.
